Place story
The Rice Cake Museum is an experiential space and a place for mountain education where you can feel the wise and wise life of our ancestors. The motive for establishing a museum here with personally collected items was the hosting of the ‘Storied Old Kitchen Household Exhibition’ at the Baeksang Memorial Hall in Anguk-dong in March 1999. Many people who saw the exhibition commented that they wished there was a space where they could always see our old kitchens, and it was heartbreaking to see our kitchen relics being forgotten, so in January 2002, the current museum opened with about 3,000 items from the collection that had been collected so far. Tteok is a food that is deeply ingrained in the lives of Koreans and has brought them joys and sorrows. There are many types of rice cakes, and the combinations for taste, nutrition, texture and aroma are scientifically exquisite.
