Place story
It is Korea's first case of reorganizing an existing road into a pedestrian-oriented road and introducing the concept of a green road, a street space full of green, and a road where sidewalks and roads coexist for pedestrians, and is 900m long. In order to secure nature-friendly clay blocks and safe walking rights for pedestrians, the roadway was paved with gypsum stone (paving stone), and for a resting area for citizens, 130 zelkova trees and 2 other species were planted and 20 chairs were installed. A historical streetscape was created and the street environment was improved in connection with Deoksugung Palace, a nearby historical facility. Deoksugung Palace's stone wall road, full of romance, is a great place for couples to walk, and with the Seoul Museum of Art and the Seoul Museum of History nearby, it is also a perfect cultural walking course.

기존의 도로를 보행자 중심의 도로로 재정비하고, 보행자를 위해 보도와 차도 공존도로 및 푸르름이 가득한 가로공간인 녹도의 개념을 복합적으로 도입한 우리나라 최초의 사례로 길이는 900m이다. 자연친화적인 점토블록 및 보행자의 안전한 보행권 확보를 위해 차도에 석고석 포장(페이빙스톤) 실시하였고, 시민들의 휴식 공간을 위해 느티나무 외 2종 130주 식재, 평의자 20개 설치하였으며 주변의 역사적 시설인 덕수궁과 연계한 역사적 가로 경관의 창출 및 가로환경 개선하였다. 낭만이 가득한 덕수궁 돌담길은 연인들이 걷기에 더없이 좋은 곳이며, 주변에 서울시립미술관과 서울역사박물관이 있어 문화산책 코스로도 제격이다.
