Place story

Gyeongbokgung was founded in 1395 as Joseon’s principal palace. Its ceremonial and residential buildings, including Geunjeongjeon, Gyeonghoeru, and Hyangwonjeong, explain how the royal court functioned. The palace was destroyed during the Imjin War and rebuilt over time; the nearby National Palace Museum and National Folk Museum add context on royal and everyday life. Its broad axis and Bugaksan views make it a strong starting point for understanding historic Seoul.
