Bulgogi
불고기
- Main ingredients
- Thinly sliced beef, soy sauce, sugar, pear or onion, garlic, scallion, sesame oil
- Flavor and character
- Thin beef slices are marinated in a sweet-savory soy mixture. Seoul-style servings can be brothy, while Eonyang-style meat is grilled more dryly on a grate. Ordering bulgogi does not always mean cooking it yourself at the table.
- How to eat it
- Cook raw meat if a grill is supplied; a finished platter or stone-pot serving is ready to portion out. Brothy versions pair with rice. Individual ttukbaegi bowls and shared grill orders use different portion units.
