Hongdae or Myeongdong for your first Seoul trip?
Choose between Hongdae and Myeongdong by your sightseeing plans, evenings and airport journey. Compare both areas on a map before checking a hotel.

Start with Myeongdong if your short stay focuses on central-Seoul sightseeing and shopping. Choose Hongdae if you want cafés and evenings around Hongik University, or value the all-stop airport railway connection. These are itinerary choices, not a ranking of hotel quality.

Make it work for you
1. Mark tomorrow’s two main stops
Open each area map and compare the sights you actually want. A straight-line distance is a useful first comparison, but does not include roads, crossings, hills or a subway transfer.
2. Check the arrival journey separately
Hongik University is on the AREX all-stop service. The express and all-stop trains serve different purposes; check the operator’s current stations and final train rather than assuming any airport train stops at your hotel area.
3. Book the room, then keep a small first outing
Check the property’s address and your selected dates on the booking page. The short Myeongdong plan below is an optional outing, not a reason to book every nearby attraction.
