Place story
Gongpyeong Urban Heritage Exhibition Hall opened on September 12, 2018, to preserve Seoul's urban archaeological remains in their original locations. During the 2015 urban-environment renewal project in Gongpyeong Districts 1, 2, and 4, alleyways and building sites from historic Seoul, from Joseon Hanyang to modern Gyeongseong, were excavated intact. Contents and exhibition techniques using unearthed everyday artifacts show what Hanyang looked like in the 16th and 17th centuries. Alleyways used from the Joseon period to the present have also been identified, letting visitors walk Imunan-gil and Jeondong Alley and experience the feeling of being in the Joseon era.
